Thomas to serve on both the Board of Directors and Editorial Board
Overland Park, Kansas – September 4, 2019 – Preferred Physicians Medical (PPM), industry-leading provider of professional liability insurance for anesthesia practices, announced today that Brian Thomas, JD, PPM's Vice President – Risk Management, was elected to the Board of Directors of the Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation (APSF) on September 3, 2019. Thomas was appointed to the APSF Editorial Board in January 2018 and continues to serve in that role.
Founded in 1985, the APSF's goals include encouraging patient safety through research and education activities along with developing patient safety programs and campaigns. Thomas has been responsible for developing and implementing much of PPM's risk management materials and is the editor of PPM's risk management newsletter, Anesthesia & the Law. Thomas has also written and spoken extensively on a number of patient safety initiatives including intra-operative fire prevention, distractions in the OR from personal electronic device use, wrong site surgery and blocks, medication errors, and securing narcotics in the anesthesia workplace.
