PPM’s Vice President–Risk Management, Brian J. Thomas, JD, authored an article published in the June 2020 issue of Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation (APSF) Newsletter. The article “Cardiopulmonary Sentinel Event During Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP): Oversedation or Gas Embolism?” includes a case study demonstrating how a sudden cardiovascular collapse during ERCP due to a suspected, undiagnosed air embolism resulted in a serious adverse event.
